October 31, 2005

Well my skeleton "Harvey" is outside covered in leaves and
being guarded by a boa constrictor... just one of the little scenarios I have
outside to greet the little trick or treaters.... I have to confess, it's my
favourite holiday, and the only one I decorate for... We'll need to buy a lot
more candy this year... we barely had enough to cover last year!
I have a Featured Tales
story submission that was sent to me by Gloria, who manages/lives in a
haunted campground. This is an ongoing occurrence. There will be
more posted on this case in the future... if you haven't already, I suggest you
bookmark this page, to catch the latest additions and updates...
Lots of other stuff is in this update. Jan of Jan's
Tales has more submissions - you can read them here:
The Duplex Part I,
Buttons, Bracelets and a Bible,
Roses and Honeysuckle in the Snow. There's
new stuff in the Readers Tales: Poltergeist?
There's always more stuff in the We Get Emails
section...and a new Untitled Tale...
And, last but not least, there's a new Special Mention tale
about a ghost named Benjamin Chapman...
absolutely fascinating....
Here's the 'gang'... (The white area is
where I covered the house number... )

Have a great and safe
Halloween....
October 7, 2005...
For those of you who are wondering where this months' update
is, I'm going to do it towards the end of this month, in honor of Halloween.
There's a lot coming, so be sure to check back after the 25th... I appreciate
your patience!
In the meantime, you might want to revisit the site and read
the tales you haven't seen in a while... I do this myself, and I get the shivers
all over again...
See you at Halloween...
September 8,
2005...
ANNOUNCEMENT!
The author of Jan's Tales has been
busy... she's created her own
paranormal research website: and also a new
message board
group on Yahoo... contributors to and visitors to Guardian Tales are invited
to visit the new site, and join the community...
And
yes, I'm a member...
SPECIAL UPDATE! One of my favourite stories on the site,
Sheridan, Oregon has been updated with the email correspondence I had with
the 2 separate tenants who lived there, and have also posted 2 photos of the
house one of the authors of the original story sent me. When you see this
ordinary looking little house, you'll be even more creeped out knowing it's
story...
There's some new additions to the
Reader's Tales: A Tennessee local Urban Legend titled
Ghost Bridge, a short of odd account of a
prophetic type visit in Gnome, and last but not least,
a new addition to the
We Get Emails
page called, We Are Still Together..
That's it for now! Until next month...
August, 4, 2005...
I think the heat has made me a bit lazy... here is the
update! In Hard to Explain Tales there's a story about a families'
encounters with possible demonic entities -
Call It What You Want. There's several new Reader's Tales...
A Reedley California Story,
Indian Burial Ground, the
Lady in Black, and last but not least,
Mysterious Lady Presence.
There's a new tale in the It Came Out of The Sky section...UFO's,
Bright Lights or What? That tale comes with a link to a local
newspaper in the area where you can read an article about the sightings... And,
of course, there's some more We Get Emails...
I think I've got everything on here...
July 1, 2005...
It's not a typo on the dates.... apparently I completely
skipped the June update... here's what's new this month... There's a new
addition to the
We Get Emails section. There's 2 new Reader's Tales -
Visitor and
Strange
Stuff in North Alabama. When you've read those, be sure to go to the
Hard to Explain Tales, where you can read 2 more tales that gave me the heebees:
Barghest
and
Terror on the Road.
While doing this update, I'm listening to a copy of the
original radio broadcast of War of the Worlds. If you haven't heard it, I
recommend you do - my local library offers audio books that you can check out
online - I'm a big fan of audio books - during my day, I usually have a headset
on, especially when doing housework, which I'm not a big fan of... My library
also offers ebooks - if you haven't been to your library in a while, you might
want to see what's new there...
That's it for this month - I'll try not to skip any more
months - time flies, I guess...
May 1, 2005...
There's not too much to update you on... I've added three new
tales to the site. In Reader's Tales, we have
Two Years in Hell House, and
Ouija Board to give you some chills. I have
to say that I am definitely of the belief that Ouija boards are dangerous, and
are best avoided. I am appalled to see they're sold as toys in retail
stores. I liken the use of Ouija boards to going to bed with your front
door left wide open all night -
anything can just walk right in...
There's a new Featured Tale this month -
The Old House. I think you'll find it
as creepy as I did. See you next month....
April 2, 2005...
Well, time got away from me this month - I apologize for updating one day late.
Hopefully, the new additions to the site will make up for the delay! There
are four new entries on the
We Get Emails page... There's a couple of new entries in the Urban Legends
category that I've posted under U in the Readers Tales section... One is a more
local tale from Georgia about 'Soap Sally', and
the other is on the topic of the infamous Bloody
Mary. There's a lesson in being careful what
you ask for in the Hard to Explain Tales. And an interesting little
tale titled, The Things That Live With Me...
also in Reader's Tales. Brrrr..... And lastly, for those of you who have
always been fascinated by the original exorcism case that served as the basis
for the novel and film 'The Exorcist', be sure to read the
update note on my Exorcist article in Famous
Cases.
March 1, 2005...
I'm a bit late getting this update out.... had some stuff happening in my 'real'
life... the first thing I want to announce is the new
FAQ page... I'll post it first on this page and the
Home page... eventually it will be added to the
links on the left...
As usual, I have some new additions to the
We Get Emails...
And what's an update without something from Jan? There's an update on
Della Barnes complete with a photo of her statue before it was vandalized,
plus another account of a visit to
Oakgrove cemetery, and a very eerie photo taken
while there....
Febuary 1, 2005...
I'm amazed that the first month of 2005 is
already behind us.... it seemed to just flash by... maybe I'm getting older?
Nah...
More stuff from Jan! She sent more stories, PLUS
some photos to add to a couple of her existing stories...
The Story of Man and
The Oakwood House. After you've checked those
out, be sure to read Candy Apple a group of shorter
tales titled, A Medley of Spectral Contacts. and
one more story: Broken Glass.
Got an interesting email
that touches on the topics of Urban Legends and unusual weather phenomena...
My Address is 666 and
Skinwalkers are in Readers Tales... very
interesting, those... once you've finished reading that, be sure to check out
the new
Hard to Explain Tale.... I'm going to be kind
of nervous when on the freeway for awhile after reading that story!
STORIES ARE NEEDED! If you have them, send them
in - be sure to read the
Submission Rules first...
That should about cover it for this month.
January 1, 2005...
This marks the 4th year for Guardian Tales. It
amazes me to see how much this little site has grown...I wanted to read and
share true paranormal encounters, and apparently others do too. I am more
grateful than I can express for the stories people submit to me for posting.
The site would not, could not, exist as it does without them, and I appreciate
it more than you know. Enough of the maudlin stuff... on to the updates!
I am delighted to announce that 2005 is being started
off with an
interview
with Jan Thompson, the author of
Jan's Tales.
You may want to read her newest tale to the site first, however;
The One
Thing.
I've added one of my personal experiences to the
Webmasters Tales section, titled "A
Demon in My View." Once you read it, you'll see why I use the phrase,
'You Can't Tell ME There's 'No Such Thing'." Now that I have written it
out, I'll probably never verbally tell that story again...
There's a new Hard to Explain Tale, about a
Witch on the Bridge...
As always, there are some additions to the
We Get Emails Page... I've archived 2004, so all the emails on this year's
page are new. There's also some new Reader's Tales:
Photo of a
Ghost? (the photo is attached),
The House of
Balsom Road, and 3 childhood experiences in
German
Clocks and Parrot Voices.
Well, that should start you off nicely.... the next
update is February 1st...
