WEBMASTERS TALES
Guardian (Epilogue)
It's been
more difficult than I thought it would be to write about my experiences with the
Guardian. Through the years I've verbally told some of these events to other
people, with no particular discomfort. Writing them, however, was a
different matter. The sense of horror, dread, awareness etc., have come vividly
to life again as I typed away in the darkened computer room, my monitor the only
source of light. But unlike the house in the Guardian events, this house
is clean...
There is
no doubt I was affected. I still cannot take a shower without a towel draped
over the rod, to be able to quickly dry my eyes and look around the bathroom.
However, the sense of panic is gone now. I am relieved to say that the towel has
become more a convenience than a necessity. I'm not quite as afraid of
the dark as I used to be, either, but it still scares me on a visceral level...
I have no
idea if the Guardian house was sold, if it's still a rental, or even if it's
still standing. I've forgotten the address, and would be unable to find the
house without it. Other than the landlord mentioning to Sis that other tenants
had said there was something 'wrong' with the house, I'm unaware if anyone else
had similar experiences to ours after we moved out. If I had the address would
I go back? Right now, today, the answer is NO.
CC, Sis,
and I are all happily married and living our lives. We're still close; CC and I
are best friends to this day. We didn't suffer any lasting damage or anything
from our experiences with the Guardian - none of us lived again in a house with
a malevolent entity. We have talked about the Guardian through the years. In
fact, CC and Sis were good enough to let me ask them what they remembered about
the encounters I wrote here. All the events where they were involved was
confirmed by them as accurate. In other words, they confirm and agree that the
events where they were involved happened as I have recounted them here.
CC and
Sis's children are grown now. The oldest child is the age I was when I moved
into the Guardian house - a sobering thought about the passage of time, that...
They of course remember nothing about living in that house, which shows that we
managed to do a good job of protecting them. The Guardian, fortunately, showed
no interest in the girls at all while they lived there. Something I'm relieved
about to this day. I've never asked Sis's daughter if she's ever remembered
saying, "Don't let it hurt Mommy," all those years ago. I would think
that if she did, she would have asked me about it by now. I'm content to leave
it as a forgotten part of her childhood.
But the
girls do know, of course, that they once lived in a 'haunted' house. A couple
of years ago, my husband and I spent the night at CC's house, and her daughters
were there also. When everyone went to bed, the girls came to me and asked me
for details about what happened in the house. I told them some of the things.
They're adults now, and don't need protecting any longer.
It was my
experiences with the Guardian and other events that has given me a lifelong
fascination with the paranormal and unexplained. As is evident in the name,
this website was in part inspired by the 'Guardian Tale'. I wanted to give
others a chance to tell their own stories; to be able to read about other
people who have had things happen to them that they couldn't explain; to realize
that they are not alone. And so, Guardian Tales was created...
A note to skeptics:
In my
experience, when it comes to the paranormal, unexplained, UFOs, or
what-have-you, believers are the ones who have had first-hand encounters,
skeptics are the ones who have not. I'm not here to convince anybody.
But, you
can't tell ME there's 'no such thing'...
-Webmaster.
