UNTITLED TALES

Untitled 7

(NOTE:  The following tale occurred in Cedar City, Utah, when the author was only 8 years old.  At the time of this posting, the author is 13.)

In the elementary school I went to, there were always stories about one of the ladies’ restrooms.  Some people said it was haunted, others said it wasn't. One day, during recess I went into this bathroom, thinking nothing of it. I had 2 or 3 friends with me at the time and there were other girls in the restroom when my friends and I got there, so I wasn't alone. There were about 3-5 stalls, and some old closed off showers (the kind like in P.E. class). I had found some fascination with an old drinking fountain behind one of the sinks, when all of the sudden the restroom, filled with talking and shouting girls, fell dark and silent.

There were no windows or open doors so it was pitch black. Pranks like this happened all of the time; turning off the lights, etc. But this time, there were no other girls screaming, at first.  Then a terrible moaning sound came from all directions and seemed to swirl in the air above my head. I was so scared then that I couldn't scream. All of a sudden, it stopped and a strange, unnatural light appeared in the blocked off shower room. Then, poof, the lights came on.  I slowly and cautiously got up and looked around the restroom, checking for the other girls.  None were there.

I walked outside dazed, and found all of my friends out playing 4 square.  I decided it would be best that they didn’t know about my run-in with the bathroom ghost, so I went back inside and sat in the classroom for the rest of that recess.

-Stephanie.

(NOTE:  How did she stay so calm?)
