UNTITLED TALES

Untitled 23

My current boyfriend lived in this apartment complex. in Indianapolis, Indiana. Not a small one at that. Very busy, lots of tenants. Not a place you'd think would be haunted...

He'd lived in this apartment for about 3 yrs. before I met him, not ever experiencing anything himself. We had been dating for about 3-4 yrs. before this occurred. So I had been going to this apartment for that many years before it made itself noticed. It's just a typical 2 bedroom townhouse, with the bedrooms upstairs, a small dining room attached to the kitchen with the living room in the back of the apt.

One night we were watching TV, with only one living room light on. The rest of the apt. dark. I decided to go to the kitchen to get something to drink. I didn't turn on any lights and I went into the kitchen opened the fridge door, bent down to get the bottle of Pepsi, stood up to close the door and when I did there was a little boy about 9-11 yrs. old walking out of the kitchen through the dining room to around the corner to the front door to head up the stairway to go upstairs. I saw him clear as day, I followed him out of the kitchen and then just I just stood in the doorway to the dining room facing the side of the staircase. He slowly walked up the stairs, never looking sideways to look at me until he got half way up to where the ceiling cut off view to his upper body so all I could see was his knees down. He stopped, hesitated for a minute, then slowly crouched down grabbed the railing then pressed his face to the banister bars and just smirked at me......

I threw the 2 liter in the air, ran for the living room and dove under the pallet of blankets I had on the living room floor. My boyfriend asked me what's wrong, what's wrong.... I said turn on some more lights and I'll tell you but I'm not coming out of these blankets till you do. He turned on the lights, I came out and he said what the hell is wrong with you? Did you see something? I said why, did you? He said, well I guess I did. I wasn't sure if I did or if it was my imagination till you freaked out...

I said well, what was it you thought you saw and where? He said I thought I saw a little boy standing at the end of the living room hallway down by the dining room staring down the hall at us about 20 seconds before you got up to get something to drink... Now, my boyfriend is a real skeptic.... He has to see, touch, hear all of the above before he believes....... but now how did we both see a little boy within minutes of each other if the little boy wasn't really there?

What's weird about that little boy is his clothes were always soaking wet as if he'd just got out of the shower wearing his clothes. His hair dripping, his face pale, his lips blue.  I saw him from that night on just about every time I stayed all night at my boyfriends apt.

I wouldn't get vibes when I first got there but usually late at night. When we'd go to bed I'd be fine. Ignoring my vibes until I'd roll over and see him quietly standing in between the bedroom wall and the bedroom door. The door would be open but he was small enough to stand between the opening from the wall/door. Sometimes I'd go around to the foot of the stairs to head up to shower and before I could get the stairway light on I'd look up and he'd be standing at the top waving his arm as if saying, come on up; I have something to show you... I always got the feeling he either wanted to show me something, or tell me something; that there was a reason he made his presence known.

My boyfriend has since moved out of that apartment and bought his own home. The little boy is gone for good. I haven't seen him since I stayed in that apartment.

Another story...

One other story I have is that I soon bought my own home. When I looked at the home I had my realtor show it to me 5 times before I made an offer. It was built in 1956, I am the 9th owner to have lived in the home. It's a quiet neighborhood, very little traffic. I loved the home as soon as I saw it. It's spacious, and just right for me and my three children.

I didn't have any weird vibes about the home and hadn't experienced any spirit activity since my boyfriends apartment.  About 7 months after I moved in I started getting little sensations of something being around. Such as, the need to rush up the basement stairs as if something or someone was following behind me. My ceiling in my family room always has noises coming from it as if I had an upstairs and you could hear someone walking across it. My children have heard it.

One time I was in my bathroom doing my hair getting ready to meet my boyfriend for dinner. My mother and my oldest niece stopped by for a minute then left, I went back down the hall to my bathroom and they went through the living room and out the front door and left, so I thought. I turned my radio back on in the bathroom and started to finish curling my hair when I heard someone yell my name over my radio. "Coleen", they yelled, I yelled back saying what, what do you want... I thought it was mother calling from the front door and had maybe forgot something when she was here 5 minutes earlier... no one answered so I went back to finishing my hair when they yelled "Coleen" again only louder and more angrier.

I yelled back "what" getting perturbed that they just wouldn't come down the hall and tell me what it was they needed instead of standing there yelling my name. No one answered again, thinking it was my imagination but getting spooked I starting rushing so I could just get out of there when someone yelled my name a third time. By this time I was really ticked and yelled what do you want as I bolted out of the bathroom and down the hall to where I thought they were calling from.

When I got to the end of the hall and entered the living room no one was there an there were  no cars in the drive. It spooked me really bad that I thought, yeah I could imagine it once or twice but three times thinking someone yelled my name... impossible. So I gathered my stuff and got out of there.

Soon after that my twin sister stayed with me sleeping on my couch in the living room and I was in my room in the back of the house. I was awakened by her around 2 a.m. in the morning with her standing beside my bed asking if she could sleep with me in my room because of the noises she was hearing in the front of the house. Being tired and having to get up at 5 a.m. to go to work I said fine, just get in bed with me and go to sleep, I'm tired and have to get up early, I'll talk to you about it in the morning.

Later about a month after that I was getting weird vibes in my room so I started sleeping in the living room. About 15 minutes after getting off the phone with my boyfriend I was laying there with my eyes closed but not asleep and  I heard a very loud thump on my living room wall coming from my bedroom. (my bedroom wall is on the other side of the living room wall) It was so loud that I jumped when I heard it.

Being the only one in the house besides my three children who were asleep in the family room I thought, my god, I'm the only adult in the house. I have to get up and investigate for my safety and my children's. (growing up it was always comforting knowing Dad was in the house, if something happened we had him to protect us) with me being a single parent- I AM THE ADULT!!! Scared or not I had to go look...

I turned on all the lights went from room to room searching my room first but finding nothing... My children were still asleep (snoring) in the family room; I knew they didn't make  the noise;  it had come from the opposite direction of the family room. I just went back and laid down and went to sleep. Come to find out it was the same noise my sister had heard some time earlier when she had stayed in the living room.

I told my boyfriend about it and like I said before he's a skeptic. He said there has to be a rational explanation for it. Well, two weeks later he was staying all night at my house and we were in my bedroom and we turned off the TV and told each other goodnight and just after I rolled over and got comfortable that loud thump hit the wall again but this time coming from the other side of my bedroom wall from the living room. My boyfriend jumped up and said what the hell was that??? I said that's that noise I've been telling you I hear sometimes at night... He said that isn't no noise, someone's in the house. He went to investigate but found nothing.

Coming back into the room he said that was weird, that noise was the loudest thing I've ever heard especially not to find anything out of place, no unlocked doors and my children fast asleep. After he came back to bed and laid down I said I told you I was hearing things. We were tired and too spooked to really talk about it, so we agreed to just go to sleep.

When I grabbed the corner of my blanket to wrap up in it and roll over I looked up towards the ceiling and in between the ceiling fan and my body was a little girl with long black hair and old fashioned night gown on floating above me like she was free falling out of a plane. I screamed, my boyfriend jumped up turned on the light and I was shaking by the time he made it back to the bed. He kept saying what's wrong, what's wrong... it took me a minute to say it out loud, as if I spoke about her she'd make her presence known again. We slept with the lights on.

To end this story I will tell you I told no one of what I saw except my boyfriend that night and my twin sister the next day. Two weeks later my children and I were in the car driving my middle son to his basketball practice. We were all talking and I'm not sure of what we were talking about but my daughter spoke up and said mommy you're not afraid of anything, are you? I said no, not really, and she said well you're afraid of ghosts and I said, yeah well maybe ghosts I am.

My older son sitting in the front seat with me said hey, mom- do we have a ghost in the house? I said why, have you seen one? He hesitated for a minute and said, well yeah. I said when? He said about a month ago I came home from school like usual, unlocked the front door and threw my books and key by the couch went into the family room turned on the TV, then went to the bathroom and as I was coming out of the bathroom I saw something in Jared's (my younger son) room. I said what, what..... what did you see? He said I saw a little girl with long black hair and a white dress sitting in the middle of his floor with her legs crossed and looking down as if she was looking at something in her hands.

I slammed on my brakes and screamed out loud, accidentally scaring them with my scream. It just really freaked me out that he would say that he saw the same thing I did, when I hadn't told them about it.

I haven't seen her since and don't really care to. I hope she's left and gone on somewhere else. I still feel someone watching me or following me through the house. Just as long as she doesn't make herself visible I'll be fine.

-Coleen McKinley.
