UNTITLED TALES

Untitled 21

One...

My grandparents house was out on a quiet country road (about 3.5 miles from the main highway) in Columbia County Oregon . Well, back in 1983, if my memory hasn't failed me, my mother and I were staying there while my grandpa was away. I couldn't sleep that night I kept hearing odd sounds and hated the pitch black darkness. It was around 1:00 a.m. when I heard all the doors in the house opening and closing one at time continuously, at first I thought it was either my mother or grandma, because both were known to roam at night. I sat up and listened, and could hear both of them snoring, I was so scared I couldn't move! then the door to the room I was in opened. I could make out a figure of a man with piercing blue eyes, he looked at me and put his finger to his lips and said "Shhhh". I told my grandma about this the next morning and she told me I had just been visited by the ghost of my great grandpa Chris.

Two...

My grandma's health had been going downhill for years, she was always in and out of the hospital and doctors and took a wide variety of pills; we all teased her that we could open a pharmacy with what she had around.

In February 1988 I became a mother for the first time, she was real ill and about two months later she had a really bad stroke we all went to Good Samaritan Hospital in Oregon. When grandpa was asked if he wanted to pull the plug he just couldn't make the final decision, he left it up to my aunt and mom, they told the doctor to pull the plug and let nature take it's course. While Mom went home that night my aunt, her boyfriend, my infant son, and myself stayed in a rooming house across the street. I was having trouble going to sleep that night as I was worried about grandpa. I finally went to sleep and I had what other people told me years later as an out of body experience. I was in her room I could see the nurse sitting there reading a magazine every so often she would glance up at the clock she reached over once and checked my grandmas vitals and marked the results on a chart. She patted my grandma on the cheek and said " I'll be back after I make my rounds Wilma." and when the nuse left grandma opened her eyes up and reached for me and sighed her last breath I turned around to see the nurse running in and look at her, pick up the phone and dial. I opened my eyes and lay on the bed waiting for the phone to ring and when it did I told my aunt, when she picked it up, that I had seen grandma take her last breath.

You know what? I never could convince my aunt that it really happened

Three...

On Sept 26, 2004 my husband and I just came home from a friends house in Eugene Oregon. That night we were winding down from celebrating his 45th birthday, he was playing his PS2 and I surfing the net looking for jobs, our older boys had gone to bed leaving our 4 year old snoozing on the couch. He started crying and thrashing around looking at us with so much fright I finally took him upstairs and cuddled with him. He lay there in my arms shaking, waking up every 45 minutes all night screaming or crying out in terror, needless to say I didn't get much sleep. That next morning my father in law, who lives in New York, called me at 8:00 a.m. to let me know that my mother in law had to be rushed to hospital at around 2:00 a.m their time, it didn't take me long to do the math and figure out that was about the time my son started his night terrors. This isn't the only time he's done this!
