UNTITLED TALES

Untitled 13

I was living in a townhouse in the Oak lawn section of Dallas, TX.  One morning when my husband got up to take a shower, I was still lying in bed listening to his every move, such as brushing his teeth and turning on the water in the shower.  When I heard footsteps come back into the bedroom, I thought he had forgotten his watch on the bedside table.  Suddenly there was a furious pounding in the mattress, so much that my head was bouncing!  It continued for several seconds and then stopped.  I was frozen with fear but knew I was awake because I could still hear the shower running in the bathroom.  When I could finally get up the courage to get out of bed, I walked into the bathroom to find my husband in the shower.  I sat down on the side of the bathtub and he looked out at me in horror!!  He said I was completely white and thought I was about to be sick.  I told him that something very strange had just happened and that I was not ill but frightened to death!! He immediately got out of the shower to talk to me.  I told him what happened, and he believed that something happened, but had to rush off to work and said we would talk later.

That night, I told him the story again in detail and he verified all that I had heard him do in the bathroom.  So I really knew I was awake during this ordeal and not dreaming.  However, he did not come back into the bedroom when I heard footsteps.  He said he believed that something happened to me, but thought it was a bad dream and really did not believe in ghosts at all.  After a while we went to bed, only to be awakened by the toilet lid being slammed shut.  My husband jumped out of bed and ran into the bathroom and started screaming at me, "Don't you see it !!  The white smoke, don't you see it !"  I was looking in the bathroom and saw nothing.  Then he said it disappeared.  I said, "Now do you believe in ghosts?"  He was just as shaken as I had been that morning.

Later that month we were awoken one more time by a very small being jumping and running around on the bed.  I asked my husband if he had brought home a small puppy or kitten that jumped on the bed, and he said he was about to ask me the same thing!!  Once again we laid there frozen in fear until it stopped.  After that no more occurrences.
