(NOTE:
The author makes a statement regarding dreams which I included, because I fully
agree that dreams are an important link to the paranormal.)
My first experience takes place, admittedly, while dreaming.
But I've had a few experiences in dreams. I believe it is possible for otherworldly
beings to contact you more easily while you are in a relaxed and suggestive state (such as
sleeping), particularly if the being in question is not a strong "sender," or
you are not a very strong "receiver." I believe I am a very strong
receiver, but the person in this story would definitely not have been a strong sender, as
he never did go in for "this type of nonsense" as he called it.
THE STORY...
This tale takes place
somewhere in Pittsburgh, PA.
My grandfather, "Pop Pop," was one of the most important people in my
life. I used to spend every weekend at my grandparents. When I was 12, my
parents began to make plans for my grandparents to move in with us, and had an addition
put onto our house for them to live in. The weekend before they were to move in, I
chose not to spend it at my grandparents
because, after all, I would have them with me all the time in a few days.
Well, on
Saturday night, Pop Pop had a stroke, and died. I was devastated and inconsolable through the entire viewing and
funeral service. I kept sobbing, "I never got to say Good-Bye." A few nights later while
sleeping, I had a dream so vivid, it took several minutes upon waking to realize it was a
dream...
I walked
downstairs into what we called our "Family Room" and saw Pop Pop standing there. As it is with dreams, I knew he was
dead, but accepted the fact that he was standing there in front of me, wearing his
overcoat and signature fedora - the one with 3 little feathers in the band.
I was so very happy to see him, and I said, "Pop Pop - everyone's going to
want to see you! We've missed you so much. Let me go tell everybody you're
here!" He very calmly answered, "No, Beth, I came to say Good-Bye to
you."
"But
Pop Pop," I answered, "Just wait right here and I'll get everyone! It'll just
take a second!" He
again emphasized, "No, I came to say Good-Bye to YOU."
"Oh
please stay here - I'll be right back." He smiled and shook his head as if to say,
"You always were a stubborn girl."
In my
dream, I ran upstairs to let everyone know my beloved Pop Pop had come back to
visit. I ran back down the stairs only to see the back door left ajar, and Pop Pop
nowhere to be seen. However, sitting on the end table was that gray fedora - the one with
three little feathers in the band....
After I
had this dream, I experienced such a sense of peace and warmth. I was still sad that
Pop Pop was gone, but I knew he was happy where he was.
