Subject: Skinwalkers
(NOTE: This experience occurred on the Wind River Reservation in Fort Washakie,
Wyoming)
In 1959 when I was living with my Grandparents
along with other family members I remember seeing for the first time a skin
walker, It was late at night when we all slept in a back room of my Grandparents
house. I remember waking up and looking up to the window which at that time had
window panes and I remember knowing that one of the glass panes was missing .
As I looked up I could see a head of a wolf and I
remember waking up my sister who was sleeping next to me along with her husband.
as we slept on the floor and I could see the face looking down at us and I could
see saliva coming out of the mouth and it had red eyes and I felt my voice
wanting to cry out loud but nothing came out. To my surprise my sisters husband
jumped up and yelled and it quickly ran off. My sister ran and told my
grandfather of what had happened and he slowly went out side and prayed and
burned some cedar and went around the house and prayed. As he came back in he
prayed and cedared all who was in the house and he
left all the lights on that night,
I remember this like it was yesterday and to this
day there are those who practice witchcraft. It has been said that one who is a
Skinwalker is in ties with the Dark side. I'm now 50 yrs old and the ghost
stories that I have been told are stories but I ask myself where do these
stories come from, and to my surprise there are
legends, and legends are real. I for one know that
there are Skin Walkers and they do exist.
