(NOTE:  The following occurred 1973 in Alabama on Highway 77 between Ohatchee and Willow Point Campground.  The author notes that this area is fully developed now, it wasn't at the time of her experience)

The Lady in Black

The incident of the Lady In Black happened to me many years ago when my children was smaller. We were on our way home in the car coming back from a camping trip. I was looking out the window at the scenery when we went by a grave yard.  What caught my attention was this lady just standing there in a long black dress with a black hat on and a breast length black veil. I remember thinking how unusual this was. I looked for cars around and there were none, I asked if anyone else saw her and everyone said no!

I was so intrigued by this that I had to find out if maybe she lived in a house near by or something. I could not get this image out of my mind.   Weeks went by, I continued my search trying to find out what year that dress was made and one day I finally found it in an old book and the year was 1854!  This really was getting weird, and being of a very inquisitive nature, I went back to try and find the grave yard again. I found it and the grave she had been  standing by was that of an infant and it was unmarked!  I looked around trying to find a house around there and there was not a house or a road to be found! So my only conclusion here is, for some unknown reason I was allowed to see this lady in the 1854 black dress! The year this happened was 1973.
