HARD TO EXPLAIN TALES

Time Slip

We sometimes read that time is an artificial device that only applies during our earthly life, but we accept it unquestioningly as long as time proceeds smoothly. But one day, in 1980, it didn't...

I was living in an old cottage in Wendover, England as a tenant of a woman whose daughter had two cats. One was a benign old tabby cat, the other pure black and less good natured, even mischievous. This cat liked to play games with me, one being to go under my bed and refuse to come out. On this evening, I began to open the bedroom door, and this cat shot in and scampered under the bed. Then in seconds, the exact same thing happened again in the same direction.

I got the impression the first occasion was completely soundless, while there was the noise of paws on the carpet the second and "real" time. I was not alarmed, but have never forgotten this. It seems that time is like a tape that runs from birth to death, but just now and then, it slips off track. How else could people claim to enter buildings that no longer exist out of their time frame.

Sometimes I feel I am re-experiencing the same situation in a deja vu way, like a replayed piece of music, but time slips are more dramatic.

They must be telling us something...I'm just not sure what!

-Martin.
