READERS TALES
Little Girl Ghost
My husband and I rented a
small ranch in Toms River, NJ, in May of 1999. My brother needed a place to
stay so he rented a room from us.
First, it was little things that happened - keys would go missing, and turn up
exactly where you knew you put them. There was a picture I had of my husband
and my brother at our wedding, that was always turned around facing the wall,
upside down, or even sideways. We were never really scared, and we would just
put it back the way it was supposed to be. The next day, it would be moved
again. My brother said he always felt like someone was in the room with him
when he was going to sleep, and when he was home by himself. One time, he was
sitting watching TV, and a picture just fell off the wall. The nail was still
in the wall, and the hook on the back of the picture was intact. The nail had a
head on it, so in order for it to be taken off the wall, you had to lift it up
slightly. Then, whatever was causing all of this (I'm assuming, anyway) decided
to show itself to us.
Like I said, this was a small ranch. The living room and two bedrooms were all
connected and whichever room you are in, you could see all of them, unless the
doors were shut. One night, while I was in bed, I woke up at about 4am for no
reason at all - I never wake up once I am sleeping. As I turned over in my bed
and looked into the living room, I saw what looked like a small child, standing
in front of the air conditioner! I looked at it for about 20 seconds, and then
it moved. I wasn't really scared, but I certainly wasn't going to get up and
investigate it. So, I put the covers over my head and went back to sleep, and
hoped it didn't move any closer to me. The next day, I told my husband and my
brother about it, and they both laughed and said I must have been dreaming. I
thought to myself, well, maybe I was. I forgot about this incident, until about
a month or two later, when we were all watching TV. My husband said to my
brother, "Ant, who were you yelling at last night?" and he said "Oh, I was
laying on the couch watching TV, and I must have dozed off because I dreamt a
little girl ran around the coffee table and stood in front of me". I said to
both of them "See, I told you I wasn't seeing things!" So, we kind of laughed
that we had a fourth roommate, and like I said, we weren't really scared and
nothing bad ever happened.
Later on, we found out the previous occupants only lived there for six weeks.
