READERS TALES
Frozen in Fear
I have had one strange experience, once one reads this, please post your
story if you have experienced something
similar. This took place in 1998, Oakland County
Michigan, living in an apartment.
Once I was sleeping in my bed next to my husband, I woke up to a eerie
feeling and I thought I could hear footsteps in the hall. I had thought
I woke up anyway, but I am not sure if I did,
it was like my body was there,
but I was not...its hard to explain. I could still feel this presence
in the room, I myself, was frozen, I could not
move, and I felt like I was awake, but also felt like
I wasn't because I could not move my body. I did
however feel the warmth from my husbands body, so therefore I new that
whatever I was hearing wasn't him because he was lying next to me.
I recall trying to speak,
but I couldn't, I was trying so hard to speak in fact
that my chest ached (like a pressure feeling). I
remember trying to pull open my
eyes, it felt like I had weights holding my eyelids together.
I remember it being
as hard as when I was trying to speak, but I was conscious because
I could feel my husband breathing but I could
not speak or move to wake him
up...I was trying so hard to wake him by speaking or even by nudging
him, but I could not, I was as stiff as a board
without sound...I felt hopeless
and terrified...
Suddenly I was able to open my eyes slightly, next
thing I know terror ripped through my body because I
could hear what I thought to
be someone walking to be in the bathroom and, as silly
as it may seem, flushing the toilet,
then walking back out towards my
bedroom (my bedroom was right across the hall at the
time)...again, it was not my husband because I
could feel him.
Then as I looked through the slits of my eyes,
not able to move or speak
and full of fear, I saw a dark image over the
top of me, bending over me
from the left side of the bed...I gasped (first time I was able to do
any motion or sound.)
At that point I felt as though I could move, I buried
under the covers and was petrified.
I told my husband the next day. I also told
others. Someone asked me if I ever heard of out of body experiences.
They say sometimes we
night walk and sometimes our bodies try to wake before
our soul returns, and that I could have seen my own
soul returning from a night
walk? has anyone experienced this? Or does anyone know of this
phenomenon? This experience has never left me,
and I have not experienced anything else to this degree since, although I have
had experiences where I have tried to wake up and have not been able to.
But nothing that filled me with fear like this particular experience did.
