A True Story

This is a true story.  A lot of people don't believe me when they hear it, but here it is...

A few years ago, my husband, my stepson, and I rented a home on Long Island.  Our landlord had purchased the house from an older couple.  While living there, there were a lot of times when I would feel someone behind me when I was doing something, but when I would turn around, there wouldn't be anyone there.  I would just shrug it off.  There would also be times when I would be sitting in the kitchen, and I would hear footsteps (heavy, like a man) coming across the back deck and to the back door.  I would think it was my husband or my son, but no one would be there.  This went on for a while.

One day I was home alone, cooking and doing laundry.  The laundry room was in the basement.  The door to the basement was right outside the kitchen, facing the back door (leading to the deck).  I was quickly coming back upstairs, and as I reached the doorway to the basement, I was facing the back door.  A figure was standing there.  The face was very clear-it was a young man with dark hair, and very dark eyes.  From the neck down, he looked kind of fuzzy.  This only lasted a split second, but when I looked into his face, such a feeling came over me...I knew he wanted something very badly.  I was of course very freaked out.

I looked through my spell books to find a spell to keep spirits away, and used it, and everything went back to normal.  I started trying to find out about the people who used to live in the house, but no one seemed to know anything.  One day, when it had snowed pretty heavily, I called a taxi to take me to work.  When I got in the car, the driver told me he knew the people who used to live there.  Great!  Finally!  This is what he told me:  There was a middle aged couple who lived in the home with their son and the son's wife, who were pretty young.  The son was killed in a motorcycle accident - he was decapitated.  Shortly afterwards, the parents moved to FL and the wife to PA.

Several weeks later, we had an electrical fire in the house.  The firemen had to break through some walls, as well as through the fireplace, which had been closed up.  A few days later, my husband and I were going through the house.  I walked over to the fireplace, and as I stood there, something came floating down from the broken fireplace.   I picked it up, and saw it was a picture of the young man and his wife - the same man I had seen that day through the back doorway.  He must have been looking for his family.  I've always felt bad about sending him away.  I still have the picture.

And, he wasn't the only ghost in that house...

(NOTE:  The Author sent in another experience in the same house...)

Same house, different ghost... We had three cats when we lived at this house; Daphne, Fabian, and Boris.  At night, when it was time to go to bed, we would put the cats in the basement.  One night, my husband's snoring was driving me crazy, so I went to sleep on the couch.  I suddenly felt a nuzzling in my face, like a cat will do.  I thought to myself that we probably didn't close the door to the basement and Fabian got upstairs.

I said, "Stop, Fabian," and went to push him away.  At the same moment (this sounds long but it happened in seconds) I suddenly heard 2 male voices right in my ear.  They were talking so strangely; it wasn't English.  I leaped up screaming and my husband and son came running out. I thought someone was in the house.  They checked all the doors and windows - everything was locked.  I was totally freaked out because the voices were so clear, even though I could not tell you what they were saying.  But the freakiest part of all was that the basement door WAS closed, and when I went down all three cats were sound asleep.  SOMETHING ELSE had been nuzzling my face...

Things like this happened a lot in this house.  One of the ghosts was a man with a hat- kind of like a fedora, with a feather.  Both my husband and my son saw him.  He liked to sit on the sofa - sometimes visibly, and other times you could just feel the cushion sink down.  The man with a fedora also had a wife and child, and one night my husband saw them walk into the bedroom, then go across the room into the closet!

Unfortunately, the house I live in now has no ghosts, so it is very boring.
