A Ghost Story to Tell...

(NOTE: This story happened in Delton, Michigan in early 2000)

I have a story to tell you about the house I live in.  I live here with my husband and two year old daughter.  I've lived here for almost four years now.  My husband has lived here for 10 years.  This house was his great grandmother's house and was passed on to him.

Anyway while I have lived here for the past few years, I have had a few odd occurrences happen to me. The first thing I can remember is getting ready for work. I noticed that my work keys were missing. My husband and I looked all over for those keys. We must have been looking for about five minutes, when all of a sudden I felt something hit my head. My keys had fallen out of the air and hit me in the head. I just kind of laughed it off.

After that things were quiet for a while. Then later we started noticing a shadow like form walking up from the basement to the bathroom all in a straight line. Our bedroom has stairs leading to the basement. There's also a huge window on the opposite side of the room where the stairs to the basement are. There is a HUGE pine tree right in front of the window, blocking the view of the yard. While looking at the window, (we had really ugly yellow curtains over the window) you could see a black circular spot go back and forth all day.

When I became pregnant, we decided to move into one of the empty bedrooms upstairs. The room was smaller, but it had a radiator to help keep us warm in the winter. At the time my husband's grandmother was still living in the house. She had Parkinson's and would often stay up all night talking to herself. When I went to the hospital to have the baby, there were some complications during the delivery, and they ended up using a kind of suction  to get her out.

After the baby was born, on the same day, my husband went home to check on his grandmother. She had fallen down the stairs and had suffered an aneurism.  She later died on New Years Eve three days after the baby was born.

Ever since then, there have been things going on in the house. While sleeping at night, the door will open and shut to our bedroom. When we used the baby monitor, it sounded like someone was walking in front of it to the baby's crib. We had my 7 year old stepdaughter over for summer vacation and we put her to bed in our room. She came downstairs a few minutes later and asked which one of us had knocked on the door. Neither one of us had. So I told her not to worry about it and go to bed. Recently though when my hubby was home alone and I had gone out shopping with the baby, he claimed to have heard a baby cry. But I had the baby with me. I know that sometimes they like to play tricks on us.

That's about it for now. If anything else happens that's good I'll let you know.

-Cathy.
